Use a wellness quiz

FitQuiz gives you the tools to build a quiz, send it to your population, award and track responses.

It’s a simple and powerful way to find out what your population knows about health and wellness , so you can improve your strategy to help them.

Here are four ways FitQuiz can help you, it’s:

Less expensive than the cost of a health risk assessment, but still gives you valuable information about population health. And it won’t cost you more to access administrative features like most quiz-builder apps and software.

Faster. It takes the average person 15 to 30 minutes to complete a 50-question health risk assessment, and takes you longer to generate a population health report. FitQuiz makes it easy to ask a couple of targeted questions and get answers faster than a traditional HRA. And if you’re short on time, just use one of our evidence-based quizzes to engage your population (pending).

Simpler. The FitQuiz interface is easy to use, allowing you to design a quiz with questions and answers any way you want. And you don’t have to leave the FitLyfe wellness platform to use it, run a report, or worry about the security of personal health information.

Customizable. Get specific about a health or nutrition topic or ask general questions. It’s up to you. FitQuiz is entirely customizable to use as mini health risk assessment, an engagement tool, or both to learn more about the health of your population.

FitQuiz: How it works

FitQuiz The FitQuiz module helps you build a wellness quiz in a few simple steps. Here’s how it works:

Choose a topic and name your wellness quiz. Pick a health and wellness topic you want to ask your population about (exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress, preventive care, etc). Then give your quiz a name. Example: Quiz: How much do you know about the health benefits of sleep?

Develop questions and answers. Create a list of questions you want to ask your population about a specific health topic. (For example: How many hours of sleep do you get per night?) Then develop the answers to each question.

Choose answer format: FitQuiz gives you complete flexibility to choose the answer format for your quiz:

  • True or False
  • Multiple Choice
  • Yes or No.

Design it any way you want with radio buttons, check boxes, or simply Yes/No answer.

Use branching logic: Want to dig a little deeper when a participant answers a specific question? Use branching logic in your wellness quiz. For example: Do you eat red meat? If yes, how often?

Score the quiz. How many points is the wellness quiz worth? You decide. Give each question a point value to determine the score after a participant completes the quiz.

Required or optional? Maybe you want to capture specific information from a quiz from a question you want everyone to answer. Use the required or optional feature.

Add an incentive reward. So you send out short a 5-question quiz to your population? What’s going to motivate them to complete it? Offer wellness points or incentive reward for those who complete the quiz.

Quiz member after watching video. At the completion of watching the video,  you can prompt the participant to completea quiz and award point for completion.

Make it mobile-friendly. Don’t worry. We’ve already done this for you. When you send a FitQuiz to your population, it can be completed on any computer or mobile device. Point and click, or tap and swipe. It is also available on themobile app.

FitQuiz: A simple way to measure health literacy

Did you know only 12 percent of adults have proficient health literacy, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention?

What does that mean? Nine out of 10 adults don’t have the skills to manage their health effectively, or the information they’re being provided to manage their health is hard to understand, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

What is health literacy?

The degree to which an individual has the capacity to obtain, communicate, process, and understand basic health information and services to make appropriate health decisions.

If you’re trying to run a wellness program to promote health, prevent disease, and control healthcare costs, your population needs to understand how to make diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes to improve health.

So how do you make that happen?

Start with a FitQuiz. Ask a few simple questions to find out what they know, OR what they don’t know about a health-related topic. Then use the results to develop your own programming and strategy to improve health literacy.

Improve health literacy, beginning with the content you share with your population, here’s how:

  • Write shorter sentences and use simpler language.
  • Evaluate health literature you publish, using the Flesh Kincaid Grade Level Score
  • Establish reading grade level standards for health content you share with your population
  • Most states have established a 6th to 8th grade reading level for health literature published for their Medicaid populations, according to a national survey of Medicaid guidelines.
  • Many health insurance providers have adopted similar reading grade level standards to improve health literacy efforts, according to the America’s Health Insurance Plans.
